Read-A-Thon Scratch Card Fundraiser in support of Society of Organized Services

Mind Growth Education is a company that has a big passion for improving literacy in Canada. We are excited to host this event in support of Society of Organized Services to help raise money for their organization and to show children in their community the importance of reading!

WHY?


WHAT?
A “Read-A-Thon Scratch Card” Fundraiser


HOW?

Every participant is given one scratch card. Each card has the potential to raise $115.

Participants invite supporters to scratch one dot to reveal donation amount they owe and amount of minutes participant needs to read. Dots reveal dollar amounts ranging from $1.00 to $10.00 and reading minutes ranging from 1 to 10 minutes. For every dollar raised, one minute is to be read! Each sponsor receives a QR Code to access our digital coupon sheet with great savings on awesome stuff (kid & adult books, candles, soaps, bath bubbles, digital reading log program, etc.) as a thank you gift! What a win, win situation!

Participant collects all of the donations. Participant logs in all of their assigned minutes on the reading log provided in the card.
Once this is completed, participant puts the money and card in the provided envelope and hands the sealed envelope back to the organizer.

WHEN?
Thursday, March 10th, 2022 until Tuesday, March 29th, 2022

WHERE?
Your scratch cards will be mailed to you or personally dropped off. A Mind Growth Education representative will be in contact with you to arrange delivery of your scratch cards.

HOW MUCH?
FREE!
(Disclosure: Each card costs $10 and raises up to $125. To pay the cost of the card, when the participant completes the card or the event is over, we take $10 from the funds raised per card. That’s 92% profit towards the SOS – how fun is that!)

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
Q: I don’t think we’ll find enough supporters to complete the card before the drop-off date. What do I do?

A: Please hand back the card and any amount you did get to fundraise. The SOS is grateful for any effort from your part! (i.e. You raised $65, $55 will be donated to the SOS).

Q: What are other ways to get supporters? We’ve asked everyone we know and still have a few circles left.
A: You could FaceTime out of town family members and friends and have them pick a circle or two and then e-transfer you the money.

Q: Do the sponsors receive a tax receipt? 
A: Unfortunately no! Donations made to a personal fundraiser, rather than a charity fundraiser, are generally considered to be personal gifts (contributions) and are not guaranteed to be tax-deductible.

Q: My family was able to complete a card in no time. Can we grab another card before the event is over?
A: Totally! Email Isabelle at fundraising@mindgrowtheducation.com and she will set up a pick up location with you!

Q: Can I write a cheque or e-transfer the money instead of sending in coins or bills?
A: Yes! Cheques should be addressed to me, Mind Growth Education and e-transfers could be made to fundraising@mindgrowtheducation.com password: SOS

Q: We won’t be able to come drop-off our card on the designated date, can we arrange another date/time/location? 
No problem, email Isabelle at fundraising@mindgrowtheducation.com and she will set up a new drop-off location/date with you!
